Words that pack punch.
This one is for the pack of shunts out there. We'll write dirty words on vintage doilies then embroider the text. Be as smutty as you like. This is SO fun and therapeutic!
Go on to add your doilies to jackets, bags, cushions or just lay out on your bedroom dressing table.
Your host, Kara Cooper of Mount Vic and Me will take you step by step. Your text does NOT have to be perfect. The beauty is in your creativity. Try some script, naive style writing, serif or non-serif. Use a bit of colourful thread to really make a statement! If you are feeling bold you could embroider a saying (think 'Not Now Not Ever'), a poem or simple word.
This 2 hour workshop will give you two doilies to choose, erasable ink pen, and some thread to get started. I'll have print outs of words laid out so you can copy if you like.
Additional upcycled and vintage embellishments available if you'd like to purchase more fabrics to add to your project.
The magic of this style of stitching is that it's a slow, meditaitive process. It's not about perfection but the enjoyment of stitching. Bring your friends and have some fun.
Warning: you may become addicted to slow stitching!

All levels are welcome. Some dexterity required for sewing.

Parking and transport:
Park in the old General Store car park just two shops down from us. This is now a vacant shop with some parking available. Station St (turn right on at the lights heading west) has free all day parking. You can also park outside the Imperial Hotel (heading east towards Katoomba).
Refreshments:
We have lovely cafés on Station St if you'd like to grab a decent coffee and snack beforehand. It's a great place to head after the workshop for lunch.
Accessibility:
Unfortunately our building is old and has 2 wide steps to enter the french doors. Once inside, you can move around freely on our timber floors. Happy to help you get in the door if needed. Our shop is up a little hill from parking on the highway. Toilet is an old outhouse up the driveway of 113 Great Western Hwy. Alternatively you can use the park across the road (which has MLAK disability toilet too). Ideally, if you have a support person, this shouldn't be too bad. Apologies as I would love to make this easier!
Accommodation:
If you need accommodation tips, please contact us. It's always a great idea to spend a night or two away in the Blue Mountains. Relax and enjoy!

By purchasing this workshop you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. Please write down your workshop date in your diary as a reminder will not be sent out. Due to this being a small business, no refund is available if you are not able to attend - though you can transfer your workshop to a friend. Please let us know this straight away so we can update the booking.

USA and NZ flat-rate postage is $25. This price is based on items being shipped from Australia to your door. Should you pick drop-shipped goodies that can be shipped out of the US, please contact me to check postage costs and possibly refund some to you. We are working on a way to better how to manage variables via drop-shipping and shipped from our studio shop! x
Your parcel might be split into multiple parcels if you have items ]coming via our manufacturers.
Returns on made to order
To offer the widest range of designs and sizes, our t shirts and other drop-shipped goodies are made to order (meaning smaller impact in a fast fashion world). We therefore cannot exchange for change of mind or size on t shirts. Please read the size guide xcarefully on our t shirts
