Break on through to the other side

I had some good break thru moments on the Women with Altitude #businesscruise over the weekend. There are some pretty cool opportunities happening for Blue Mountains Socks and Mount Vic and Me – my guilt with my two kids at home every weekend – and so a shift is happening. I debated when to make it happen but need to ‘strike while the irons hot’ and that means now.

My studio shop is now my studio.

That means I won’t be sitting in a retail environment every weekend but will come and go from it as my creative space midweek while the kids are at school and open at for weekend events like The Great Train Weekend, spot pop-up openings which I’ll create as events on Facebook, and so forth.

My kids are young and I want to be with them. When the pub opens across the road I’ll reconsider my studio space. But that won’t be for another two years I reckon. This affects my business and I think Mt Vic needs that pub open!

I’ll be closing up consignment with other designers but taking on some to go onto my website. This will all unfold soon and I’ll make contact with each designer. I need to look at the stock in the shop and decide what will work. I’ve loved working with local designers but consignment is financially not viable and takes a lot of time with my bookkeeping (which I do).

So when a frame sign is out front of the shop, I’ll be welcoming in people to come by and see what’s instore with all for sale.

I need to concentrate on creativity, pushing my brands out there and encouraging sales thru my online store. I’ll be offering free post over a certain amount soon too.

I feel like I’m blurting this out. I apologize if it’s a bit random and cold but I’m hungover, tired and want to push on to redesign my studio into what I need it to be.

I’m not gone… just evolving… like a hungover caterpillar trying to become that butterfly.

Much love. X

Always something new at Mount Vic and Me.
